Better than expected Dec 15, 2009
By Eric Mercer I was a little scared to buy this product, but I figured at this price why not. I have had this item now for several months and am now writing my review because I had to test it out before I could give an accurate review. I have no problems at all with this item. As far as I can tell it is not loud. But then again I don't have my computer in a room without any other noise so I really don't care. I installed it on a Compaq Presario with XP Pro and the system has only been shut off one time due to a power outage because of a storm. It works so great in fact that I am ordering another one for a friend's computer. I learned that I need to test some items for myself before I can assume it is not a good purchase. Fortunately this time I did not waste any money with this purchase.

Excellent, for the price Oct 05, 2009

It is really hard to beat the price on this. Is it the best PSU I've ever owned. Absolutely not. It feels a bit cheap, it only has one SATA connector, and it is a touch loud. But for the money, what more do you want? I needed a PSU for a few days to keep a system up during an upgrade cycle, and this fit the bill perfectly. If you need a dirt cheap PSU, this is a great choice.

Died in 5 Days Oct 08, 2009

This power supply seemed nice at first. It has long leads and fit fine. However, 5 days after install it was dead. It was on a circuit protected by a UPS and the demand on it was not excessive (about 175 watt demand).
If you go ahead with this (and that is a bad plan) note it has only 1 SATA plug and a 24 pin connector (not 20 +4).

Faulty Dec 30, 2011
By Dawn Wouldn't work at all to begin with. Then after turning it on and off several times it came on and started smoking and melting wires. Not sure if it caused any damage to my computer. I'm waiting on a different, new power supply. No problem with info on returning it for full refund. Amazon is very reliable. Products sometimes are faulty.

Been working fine with a Basic Build May 05, 2010
By Pluto Used it to build a small system with a Micro ATX board, Intel e2160 with after market Rocketfish heatsink, 2GB DDR2 800, 250GB hard Drive, One DVD Burner, 2 case fans (1x120mm no LED + 1x80mm w/LED). I built this system based on new and used parts. Sold it to a friend's friend and so far it's still working. It only has on SATA connector and it really should have at least 2. Anything less than two SATA ports is unreasonable, that's why I knocked off one star. It feels cheap but, seems to work fine with a basic build. I tried it with more hard drives (4 total HD all Green Hard Drives) and it would not work. I first wanted this power supply for a simple Home Server but, the extra Hard Drives proved too much for it. Hence, I used it for the most basic build I could possibly assemble. Only purchase it if you have a simple basic build, similar to the one I described above. Otherwise, you run the risk your computer shutting off unexpectedly or not fully booting. How long will it last? I can only tell you I purchased it in August 2009 tried (unsuccessfully) to use it with the green home server mentioned. Since then it sat in the closet from August 2009 until I built the newer computer in January 2010. So far it's been in constant use without any issues. Would I buy it again? No. I know I can have something better for 5 to 15 bucks more. If you must save the 15 bucks or so go for it, if not just get something a little more powerful which would be more suitable for later upgrades. Why then 4 starts not less? Cause these are never meant to be used for more complex systems and so far it's been working well.
