Mixed Bag, works if you get the right one. May 26, 2010 The problem with these things are they all look alike, but there are several different chipsets out there.
My first order of these came from HDE, and used the DM9601 chip. Worked great, automatically detected by Debian and OpenBSD. Needed drivers for windows (untested). Had no problems on the BSD box, so I decided to order more.
My second order came from eforcity. These....weren't so great. They used a fullwin FY-618SM chip which again required drivers in Windows (untested), and wasn't recognized by either Debian or OpenBSD.
Searching amazon, I'm also coming across an "Agiler" version which physically looks identical. I have no idea how that one stacks up.
So Buy at your own risk.
(At least they're cheap)

Didn't work for me Apr 04, 2010 The adapter does get hot, not hot enough to burn you but it makes you think about your safety when you got to bed at night. AND that is with it not even working I could never get it to work with my dell running windows XP. Also the software was never certified by windows.

Complete personal product review Feb 23, 2010 This is a cheap way to connect an Ethernet cable into a USB port.
1) This item is made in China and the package looks like something you find in a 99 cent store, so there is no costumer service.
2) The driver disc that comes with this adapter and is needed to be installed before your computer recognizes the device is a MINI-DISC, not the standard size compact disc so be prepared for that.
3) This adapter DOES work just fine for me on my Sony Vaio Laptop that has no Ethernet connection ports, only two USB ports so I received exactly what I wanted and paid about $3.50 + S&H for.
Caution: My only set back with this adapter is that it gets extremely hot. Not hot enough to burn you on contact but it is uncomfortably hot and I would not leave it plugged in longer than I needed to.

It did not work on my XP, nor Win 7. Jan 24, 2010 I wanted to save a few dollars so I ordered this adapter. It did arrive with a drive cd but they were erased before I could install the drivers.

Not for Wii Nov 04, 2009 Ordered this to hard wire my Son's Wii. No dice - doesn't claim to work for this application - I knew I was taking a chance to save a few bucks... It didn't work out...Least it was cheap!
