 NEW MOON MOVIE Mar 08, 2010
JUST WANTED TO LEAVE A NOTE TO SOME WHO MAY BE CONFUSED. AMAZON SELLS THE 2 DISC DVD. TO GET THE 3 DISC DVD YOU NEED TO BUY IT FROM TARGET. I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WHEN I ORGINALLY ORDERED IT FROM AMAZON AND HAD TO CANCEL MY ORDER. THE 2 DISC DOESN'T INCLUDE THE DELETED SCENES WHICH I LOVE!!! SO JUST A NOTE FOR THOSE WHO WERE CONFUSED LIKE ME. CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCH 20TH.

The director of the first Twilight movie, Catherine Hardwicke, was changed over to Chris Weitz, which I found changed the feel of the movie a great deal. I don't know if I can credit him with the change in Bella's (Kristen Stewart) acting or if some other force took control of her body, but I am thankful. She has done away with the excessive sputtering that was overly comical in the first film. (Remember the hospital scene where Edward was going to leave her? I think the lines went something like "I...but...no...you...can't...no...no...why...whyr...shio...as.....whiiii...") Her twitches have been toned down and her eye flickering was kept to a minimum.
Those that are Team Jacob will be happy for all of those shirtless scenes he has. And Taylor Lautner deserves all the ooh's and aah's he received. His acting chops are still nothing to be raved about, but he's trying, and he worked his butt off to get this role, so that bumps him up a notch in my book.
Team Edward fans need not worry. Even though New Moon focuses more on Bella and Jacob's relationship, Edward (Robert Pattinson) makes appearances throughout. However, Edwards shirtless scenes did not evoke anything from the audience like Jacobs scenes did. Edward is just a pale, thin, vampire, what do you expect. (And I'm Team Edward!)
So while the acting was so-so in many parts, it's still an entertaining film, especially for teenagers and fans of the books. I look forward to Eclipse, which will be out on June 30, 2010, where I hope to see more of the supporting cast. (The best actors of the bunch are hidden in the back.)

I cant say that New moon was better than Twilight, nothing in the second even touched the Baseball scene for its in your face wow factor. You actually see that Rosalie is capable of caring which is something you don't see in the beginning. The wolves really did not look that good. Edward was much better and Taylor uniquely wonderful, Kristin unfortunately still had to deal with a character that is pretty much totally strange and unappealing, sorry guys Bella is really weird. I cant blame the movie for the fact that there was not enough of the Cullens.

not a catherine hardwicke movie, which is Not Good for this movie Mar 04, 2010
there are few items that i've ever read which are more insulting than to infer/state that this movie is better than catherine hardwicke's original version which began the movie series...twilight. in the reviews for this movie, there are those who are trashing catherine hardwicke, and few things could be more ridiculous. catherine hardwicke took a mediocre writer and put some juicy bones and very attractive people (stand-ins for the notoriously homely mormons in utah) and some very interesting scenes and made an actually appealing movie (stephanie meyer is that mediocre writer whose mormonism is apparently just fine with blood suckers who loll about in bed as long as "the deed" is not done).
clearly, stephanie meyer, who has acknowledged she is not much of a writer (see the third-grade prose of this BYU graduate!!) got very very lucky with catherine hardwick. there wasn't much new in twilight, mostly rehashed and reused pieces of movies from the fifties and sixties and bits and pieces of the endless stream of vampire movies (see kathryn bigelow's After Dark), so stephanie meyer..."SOMEHOW", although she had, as she has profusely and repeatedly stated, never ever ever seen or read or had any knowledge of any previous "vampire" books or movies, just "dreamed" this one up. ha ha ha.
ah yes, the ole "i dreamed it" which all too often (not saying that here, Of course....snicker snicker) means that one has cobbled together and recycled so much from others. apparently, the publishing industry in lieu of actually publishing great writers (which requires some marketing to get them known) has decided to publish the putrid and puerile mormons (another one is one the way) which allows them to use the "fall in to line" and buy this book, lock step of mormonism to give a book an initial push. but the reading public will catch on to this fairly soon, and reject it.
the readers aren't stupid and require real writing, not the watered-down clap-trap of the mormons. hats off to catherine hardwick and how ungrateful of the mormons. new moon should have been directed by hardwicke and it's all the poorer for it.
Much better than Twilight Mar 03, 2010
I saw this one 3 times while it was in theaters because I went with several different friends at different times. I still really liked it even after the third time. I liked Twilight the first time I saw it and subsequent times I found it to be cheesy with horrible special effects and I hated the blue overtone of the movie. I thought it was poorly directed and the actors were used much better in New Moon. In New Moon the same cast is back, plus a couple of stars including Dakota Fanning, and I think they do a wonderful job compared to the previous film. Yes, it's long. Yes, it's slow. But, That is how the book is written and the movie is actually faster paced than the book. Bella is depressed through most of the book and since she's the character that's followed the mood also follows her. It took me a little while to get used to the extreme coloring of their eyes as compared to Twilight. Of the 4 books this was my least favorite so I'm very glad that this movie was well made because it could have totally bombed. Anxiously awaiting Eclipse in a few months, more upbeat and WAY more action! That one should be great.
