Distinguished refinement, kaleidoscopic nuances! Dec 31, 2009 Sholomo Mintz has proved over the years, his astounding technique, fingering, tune and temperament have always been for him a special trademark. And so - as expected result - his sound is organic, expressively sincere and deeply engaging.
If I would have to pronounce myself by the three best sets of Paganini's caprices.
I would chose this one, Michael Rabin and Salvatore Accardo.
Don't miss it!
Simply music! Jul 07, 2009 My previous impression of the piece is nothing much more than the technical display. Mintz recording shows some great musical elements in this piece. Perfect harmony in caprice 3. I don't play violin and have no idea how difficult it is to make it that way, but this is something I never heard in other recordings. I think I am very convinced this is a great music.

Beautiful! Jun 22, 2006 I just heard Mintz's Paganini Caprices for the first time, and I came immediately upstairs to my computer to write this review. I am amazed! I have heard a number of versions of these over the years, and I must say, none compare to this.
Those who reviewed Mintz's cd ahead of me said it better than I can. I just want to put an exclamation point on theirs. If you have any doubt at all, put it aside. Shlomo Mintz makes the 24 Paganini Caprices sing, and with absolutely astonishing technique. The beauty of his playing of the 24th Caprice is unsurpassed, in my opinion, including the many renditions of Rachmaninov's Rapture on this theme.

Outstanding ! Dec 17, 2005 I must agree with the last review. I have 6 recordings of the caprices and this ends up on top. Mintz plays in a very different way, unlike other violinists. Just hear the #24, because in other reccordings this one is always the same : It has the same duration(4:40), and its played like a study(specially the eight Var)
Mintz's interpretation is unique (He repeats the second part of every Variation). He plays it in a musical way.
this is really a "must have" for Paganini fans. I highly recomend this recording, forget about the other ones.
