Non Fiction Sep 03, 2007 Microsoft SQL Server(TM) 7.0 Performance Tuning Technical Reference (It-Microsoft Technical Reference) by Jamie A. Reding is a more technical and in detail guide to things you can do to tweak your SQL Server database for various reasons and for various tasks. It is ok, but better out there. Standard sort of Microsoft book.

Good tips, but errors... Jul 19, 2000 I found this book to be an OK reference. However, the author has mistakes in the treatment of RAID levels for DASD. Nice high level view of queuing theory and the basics of using histograms for analysis.

A few tips, but not worth buying Jul 13, 2000 If you find yourself navigating the online bible (SQL Books Online) to figure something out then you are better off buying something else. I was dissapointed that no value was added beyond what you can get from the online books.

Great Tuning Reference Jun 02, 2000 I have been tuning SQL Server databases for some time, and have not seen such a good reference short of the Inside SQL Server series originated by Ron Soukup. I strongly recomend this book for everyone creating or maintaining an enterprise database.
