5Fills a niche  May 07, 2003
By Douglas "drdoug62"
Basically, this is a very good book that does exactly what it says it will do. Many Access books are aimed either at the basic/beginner level or the enterprise level user. This book fits nicely between the two levels.

No, there is not a CD included. But the files are available on the net, and the book is [less]than most books that come with CDs.

No, the reader will not find a great deal of basic information about tables, queries, forms, etc...there are many other books that address those issues.

Basically, buy the book, you will not regret it.

3Where's the CD?????????  Mar 13, 2002

Where's the CD? This book does not come with a CD! The book does say that all the examples are on the Web but its just not the same.

I am disappointed that he dropped DAO coverage in this book. In this Access 2000 book he had dual coverage of DAO and ADO. The author even admitts in this Access 2000 book that DAO is easier than ADO. He says the DAO chapters are on the Web. I cann't log on to the web on the train.........

I really like Barker's Access 2000 book and would recommend it over this book. There were a lot of useful examples in his book that help me with my job.

I also donn't see any new examples in this book. One topic I would like he to talk about is "Self-Joins" and how to use "self-joins" to calculate percetange changes....

3Read another book to be able to read this one  May 25, 2003
By H. Karaca Kestelli "every night reader"
I bought this book to learn VBA. Though luck! It assumes a working knowledge of VBA. It does not follow a certain logic. I am reading two more resources just to be able to follow the book. If you are very good in VBA, than this book is fine, but then again, why would you need a book in that case...
