Whistler Jul 22, 2010 Bought this jacket for my 15 yo daughter for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. She didn't want a jacket at all but when this one came she is happy with it. I think it will keep her dry and withstand all the activities we have planned in the rainforest.
Spring throug fall outwear Jun 29, 2010 I have only one complaint about this jacket and that is the mesh lining does not fully cover the back of the jacket, otherwise it is the perfect outerwear when for cool to warm temperatures. It will not do in a torrential downpour but anything less it stands up to water. It breathes well for tough hikes when your body warms up but the weather is wet and cool. I have had it a few weeks, and it worn it in as cool ast 48 degrees and as warm as 72 comfortably. This is not a winter or hot summer jacket. The shell is lightweight. It looks very nice and fashionable but durable and well made.

Not for rain protection May 18, 2010 Basically, I echo everything that "dave h" said. I'm sitting here at work with wet sleeves on my cotton shirt because I wore this jacket beneath my motorcycle armor. The armor's made of mesh Goretex, so I needed something to stop the light rain this morning. This Columbia jacket did not do the job. Leaked in the upper sleeves (because of leaky seams) and upper chest (through the zipper).
I also echo Dave's pluses - it packs down very small, and it's very effective as an outer layer to block wind, on cold days on the bike. But it is NOT a rain jacket.
Good functioning jacket May 15, 2010 This jacket by Columbia seems to be exactly what I was looking for. It is weather proof and a perfect light weight to easily pack and carry on hikes in rainy areas. I purchased this jacket for an upcoming trip to Seattle and Alaska. Due to the rainy weather in Seattle and I assume Alaska as well in August, this item will be a necessity. Good quality and workmanship. I can always trust the Columbia brand.
WELL CONSTRUCTED Wind Mar 25, 2010 I like my new wind breaker. It is well made, good quality sewing on the seams, good zippers, and ample pockets. It is lite weight, which is what I wanted. However, if you are looking for more than a wind jacket you need to move up to a lined one. This one is not lined. The one drawback to the jacket is it only has 3 exterior pocket. I like to have an interior one also. But other than that great wind breaker! Really a 4.5, but that wasn't an option on the star system.
