Cables To Go RJ45/DB9 Female Modular Adapter

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

Using modular adapters with inexpensive silver satin or flat oval twisted pair wire has become a standard way to run client server applications. Needing to connect dumb terminals on the desktop back to a central patch panel or directly to a MUX via RS-232, many network planners have implemented modular adapters as the most cost-effective way to complete the connections. Whether used in a wiring closet or throughout the office, color-coded modular adapters lend easy identification and differentiation to your cable plan. By color-coding your connections, you reduce troubleshooting time while taking full advantage of the benefits of this modular adapter approach.

5The customers are morons  Nov 16, 2010
By Chris
Since I'm not the vendor I can say that. Then again these should cost about $1 from an electronics supplier. People like me who have been using these things and similar since 1982 or so know that RS232 (what the DB9 carries) has a bunch of standards that these adapters are good for. So they are shipped uncommitted, they haven't plugged the wires in because where they go depends on final use. The two basic types are straight through (for connecting data control equipment DCE data terminal equipment DTE) and null-modem for connecting DTE to DTE, like hooking up two PCs. They call it null-modem because it's a data connection without a modem. DTE to DCE cables are straight through, DTE to DTE swap the data and control pins. Nobody who manufactures these things knows which application you have. Look up "rj45 db9 pinout" on google, without the quotes, to find the wiring standards.

Idiots who want a complete cable should order one and stop badmouthing the adapters the engineers need.

4Customizable RJ45 to DB9  Apr 16, 2011
By B. Gates
I bought this to use as a console cable for a Juniper SSG. The only issue I had was not knowing what color wire corresponded to each RJ45 pin, but that was pretty easy to look up online.

For anybody else who has the same question:

Pin 1: Blue
Pin 2: Orange
Pin 3: Black
Pin 4: Red
Pin 5: Green
Pin 6: Yellow
Pin 7: Brown
Pin 8: Grey

1Extremely disapointed  Dec 11, 2010
By Dean L. Schwenz
this company shipped this item very slowly,it was a week later that everything else I ordered from the shipment.
When I recieved the connector,It came disembled with all the wires hanging loose. there were no pinout instructions
making this connector a complete waste of time. I will never buy anything from cables to go again.
