Works very well on all OSes Aug 15, 2010 It Just Works. Windows, MacOSX, Linux... you plug it in, and it works. In fact, you don't even need a driver for Linux; the RTL8187L chipset inside is known to the Linux kernel (2.6.20ish) and later, so for Linux users it's zero install past putting it into a USB socket.
Sensitivity: it compares well against a modern Apple AirPort (i.e. the ones in a Macbook Unibody).
And it's only 13 bucks (as of current pricing)! What a deal. Note that this is totally "no name" on the packaging; there literally is _no_ brand associated with it. It just says "Wireless LAN" on the card. But don't worry; it really does work just fine. (note, I actually have *two* of these; one feeds my current desktop machine and the second is a floater for when I need to diagnose a machine with absent (or failed) WiFi. ). If you need WiFi for a machine that has none (or has a broken WiFi card) you can't go far wrong with this.
The only downside is that it's a little bit bigger than some other WiFi USB plugins; you may find that it blocks the other USB port when in use. But there are extender cables that will fix that for you.
