I use a fax modem and I started having errors not knowing why. I finally swapped out the dsl filter with a new one, and now it works. Be warned: these are cheap and they fail in pretty short order. The filter was new 11 months ago and worked fine, but I had progressive problems faxing starting in month 9. So if you're having trouble, use dsl and can't figure out what's going on, check your filter!
